Vibroacoustic Music Therapy sessions

A Therapy Born From Clinical Observation, Not Trend

Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) was founded in Norway by educator and therapist Olav Skille (1939–2022). Working with children who had severe physical and developmental disabilities, Skille observed that low-frequency sound vibration — applied directly through the body rather than just heard — reduced muscle spasticity and produced measurable relaxation. In 1982 he formally defined VAT as the therapeutic use of sinusoidal, low-frequency (30–120 Hz), rhythmic sound-pressure waves combined with music, delivered through speaker-embedded equipment.

Skille went on to develop the first VibroAcoustic chair and documented his clinical work across more than 40,000 treatment hours. His findings were later published in the peer-reviewed journal Music Therapy (1989), and he became an honorary member of the International Society for Music in Medicine.

VibraHeal: An Original Evolution of Skille’s Method

Skille’s original equipment used embedded speakers and a fixed low-frequency range (20–120 Hz) paired with pre-recorded music. VibraHeal was designed by Leonardo Marquez at Vibraheal Services to build on that same core physics — sound as a felt, physical stimulus — while extending it in several original directions:

Full-spectrum delivery:

20 Hz–20 kHz via an integrated subwoofer and speaker array, rather than a single fixed low-frequency band.

Live-performed sessions:

Composed in real time using a MIDI controller, DAW, and professional audio interface — each session tuned to the room, the client, and the intention of the treatment, rather than a static recording.

Integrated thermo-therapy:

A heat pad layered beneath the vibro-acoustic surface to further support muscle relaxation.

Guided meditation layer with psychoacoustic effects

Delivered through wireless headphones — kept acoustically separate from the bed’s body-felt frequencies, so the low end is felt through the body while the meditation is heard privately, without one interfering with the other.

The session process:

  1. Consultation: We begin with a brief chat to understand your goals.

  2. Preparation: You lie down comfortably on a inflatable mat  embedded with speakers.

  3. Immersion: As the specially composed music plays, you feel gentle, pulsating vibrations travel through your body.

  4. Integration: The sound and vibrations synchronize with your heart rate and brainwaves, guiding your nervous system into a state of profound calm.

  5. Completion: The session ends gently. We take a moment to discuss your experience.

It’s a passive, non-invasive therapy. You simply relax and receive the healing benefits.

The benefits in detail

  • Stress & Anxiety Reduction: Lowers cortisol levels, calming the nervous system.

  • Pain Management: Reduces chronic muscle pain, fibromyalgia discomfort, and inflammation.

  • Improved Sleep: Promotes deeper, more restorative sleep by regulating sleep patterns.

  • Enhanced Mood: Alleviates symptoms of depression and boosts overall well-being.

  • Increased Circulation & Lymphatic Flow: Gentle vibrations stimulate blood and lymph movement.

  • Deep Mental Relaxation: Entrains brainwaves to meditative states (Alpha/Theta), reducing mental chatter.
